Ruth had only returned from Malawi to Northumberland a few weeks before taking part in the challenge in Hexham Library. While living in Africa, her school uniform included socks and shoes so her feet were always uncomfortably hot. Her invention refreshes your feet with fresh air at every step!

Invention Story

The Idea!

"It is a foot air conditioner, stops you from being sweaty. When you lift your foot the pump sucks air and when you put down your foot air is released into your foot. It uses air energy and walking energy."

Ruth

Ruth has been busy working on her invention idea further at home in her Inventor's Log, thinking more about how it works, how it would change for different users and explaining her inspiration. Brilliant inventing!

We love this comic strip that Ruth has created to explain her invention and how it works.

Ruth and cardboard artist Lottie Smith had a video call conversation where Lottie talked through her approach to bringing Ruth's Pumper Footer to life.

Ruth didn't stop at the pumper footer when she entered the Energy Challenge - she also submitted another great invention, the T Pedal Fans. Her ideas were so ingenious, she got shortlisted twice! So we really can't wait to see what else she will come up with, she already has some great starting points - it's bound to be worthwhile!
